The Apostles of Doom arrive January 1, 2017!  as The Demons of Astlan continues. (All books available on Kindle Unlimited)

After 4,000 years of waiting, Prophecy has been fulfilled!

The Dark Lord Tommus, heir to the Throne of Orcus, has relit Mount Doom in the Abyss!  It is time for the Orcs to reclaim their rightful place in the multiverse!

As the orcs rejoice and race to rebuild the connections between their worlds and the Abyss and the alvar gird for war, Tom discovers his new home comes with some unexpected guests–guests who may provide him with leverage in his conflict with the god Tiernon.

Hilda and the avatars of Tiernon work to establish a new base of operations upon the plains of Murgatroy to launch a rescue mission for Talarius.

Meanwhile, aboard Dante’s Inferno, Oorstemoth and the Rod invade the Abyss on their joint mission to rescue Talarius and arrest Lord Edwyrd.

Exador needs the assistance of the Storm Lords to destroy Lenamare and the Council of Wizardry and seize The Book once and for all.  In return he must first recreate the lost works of the Dark Apostle.

In the Courts of Chaos, Lilith is preoccupied by a Baron of Chaos who wants to know where hir Maelstrom went.

The Heavenly Host (Demons of Astlan Vol 2) is now available for pre order at Amazon.

The dishonorable, cheating Forces of Good have been defeated!

Tom Perkinje, the reluctant Greater Demon and recent transplant from Harding NJ to the Abyss has defeated and captured the not-so-valiant Sir Talarius, Knight Rampant of Tiernon and has humiliated and demoralized the army known as the Rod of Tiernon, that helped Talarius cheat in battle with Tom. Unfortunately, to do so, he had had to hack the mana streams between the god Tiernon and his High Priests, and now his buddies are telling him that Tiernon is going to send a Host to investigate this unprecedented event.

Oh, and the fact that he reversed a Holy Artifact of Tiernon has not gone unnoticed either. The folks upstairs are not pleased.

His actions have completely disrupted the plans of not only the Rod of Tiernon, but also the Sky Fleet of Oorstemoth who had thought to bring Tom to justice for illegally destroying the ship trying to obliterate Tom and his friends. The two armies are now looking to unite and rescue Talarius and arrest (permanently) Tom.

Of course, there are also the three Arch Demons trying to steal a book that Lenamare, Tom’s Accursed Master, stole from Oorstemoth; and whose demon horde had been infesting the wizard city of Freehold. So Tom has managed to anger both the Forces of Good and the Forces of Evil. However, that pales before his current problem, what exactly does one do with a hostage?

Because everyone is reblogging that black suit of armour I uploaded.

EDIT: Hey, I have a folder full of reference uploaded here.

Reblogging here, because armor was definitely part of a mediefval and Renaissance man’s closet. Also, none of the thousands of people who have liked and blogged this before me will see this, but whatever, it still needs to be pointed out.

This is Dr. Tobias Capwell. He’s an expert on late medieval military history, particularly armor. He’s actually an American who loves the field so much he moved to England so he could work in it. His PhD project was a study of the armored effigies of medieval funeral caskets and tombs.

This suit was custom made for him, based in part on those studies. I’ve seen videos of him running, doing somersaults, jumping over logs, etc. in this suit.

Capwell is one of the curators of the Wallace Collection. If this sort of stuff excites you check out these videos:

Tobias talking about working for the Royal Armoury

How to Mount a Horse in Armor and Other Chivalric Problems: Dirk H. Breiding, Assistant Curator of the Department of Arms and Armor at the Met gives a great lecture about armor myths.

Dressing in Steel part 1 & 2:  Armorer Jeffrey D. Wasson gives a live armor-making demonstration at the Met.

A Visit to the Galleries: In the 1920s the Met takes a camera crew to the armor galleries to talk about armor myths and to demonstrate (using armor from the collection!) the falsity of many of them. I think my favorite from this film might be the section where they take a mail shirt (estimate of 250,000 links in said shirt taking two years to make) and play with it showing how flexible it is. They actually have someone put it on to make a point about how it wouldn’t even allow a pin to go through it. Then to prove how light it was they put it and the padded jack on one end of a teeter totter and a small boy on the other.

This is awesome, but what are the dangly bits on the cloth?

Part 2 of the “Dressing in Steel” video has Jeffrey Wasson putting on his own suit of armor. You can see the “dangly bits” in better action there. They actually connect to various bits of the armor (such as the cuisses or pauldrons or to the mail standard that would sometimes be worn around the neck as additional protection) and help strap them down more securely so they don’t wiggle around.

Hi,

During the summer, the Abyss gets even hotter than usual. We demons therefore, like everyone else, like to go on vacation.

Unfortunately, to leave the Abyss we need to be summoned!

So, if you know someone: friend, family, colleague who is going on vacation, or just wants a great break, ask them to summon some demons to take with them!

In order to make this easy, next week the Kindle version of Volume I of Demons of Astlan: Into the Abyss will be on sale at Amazon.com.

Yes, we will be doing our first Kindle Countdown Sale on the book!

So if you know someone who might enjoy the e-book spread the word!

The sale will last the week and will start on Monday June 30th 2014 at it’s lowest price ever (unless you bought the Dead Tree Edition) it will then increase by $1 every so many hours. There will be a clock telling you how long you have until the price goes up. (It does not come back down…only goes up).

So grab it when you see it! Or rather have your friends grab it since you’ve probably already seen it.

The sale is only at the US based Amazon.com (currently countdown deals only happen in the US and UK stores). However, anyone can buy from the Amazon.com store, even if they have a local Amazon. store, you just have to force your browser to the .COM site.

Usernames and passwords work across Amazons (or do between US/UK).

Also there will be a sale in the UK store corresponding to summer school break in the UK later in the month. (however there are fewer break points given the relative price/VAT etc.)

Check the book out here!
